 Volunteer

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Sitka Animal Shelter. They donate generous amounts of time and compassion to make sure the animals at the shelter are well loved, cared for, and successfully adopted. There are many ways to get involved with the shelter, big and small! If you are interested in volunteering, please download and email a completed volunteer application to sitkaanimalfriends@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Animal Care

The animals at the shelter require round the clock TLC and cleaning. At any given time, there are a number of cats and and dogs living at the shelter while they await adoption. Volunteers are needed to feed shelter animals, clean kennels and litter boxes, socialize cats, and walk dogs. Let us know if you're interested in becoming an animal care volunteer.

Fostering is a great way to give shelter animals a comfortable and cozy temporary home while they wait for their forever home. It also frees up space at the shelter for other animals that need our help! If you're interested in becoming a foster parent, please fill out the Foster Interest Form.
